ABOUT THE BOOKInspired by a flurry of activity among humans because of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the birds of the park decide to have a Swachh Ghosla Abhiyan (Clean Nest Campaign). Inspector Owl goes on an inspection spree, but things don’t quite turn out as expected.
- Less of a picture book and more of an illustrated storybook because of the textheavy layout, this is an attractive book with bright colours.
- The story provides an opportunity to acquaint young readers with different kinds of birds’ nests, such as that of a pigeon, hoopoe, mynah, tailorbird and sunbird.
- An activity or information page about bird habitats would have been a welcome addition to the story.
- It is interesting to have the story connected with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, but this comes off a bit discordant as it seems to indicate that most birds have dirty nests. An explanation that what seems untidy or dirty to us may not necessarily be so in case of the natural habitats of animals might have been helpful.
