I PLANTED A SEED

I PLANTED A SEED

ABOUT THE BOOK

A boy finds a little seed and plants it. What will grow out of it, he wonders—a tree, a butterfly, a mountain? Manjari Chakravarti’s evocative pictures soar with the child’s imagination, capturing the hope and anticipation and the small dose of reality.

SNAPSHOT REVIEW

  • The bright colours and details in the pictures ought to be attractive for young children.
  • The idea behind the book is interesting, but it doesn’t quite deliver.
  • The rhyming and flow are uneven, making it a bit awkward to read out.
  • Despite the 6-plus recommended age range by the publishers, this might be better suited to much younger children.

CONCLUSION

An interesting idea, but the book doesn’t exactly hit the mark.

“For a teacher or librarian faced with dozens of books to read, a good book review website is as essential as maps are for geographers.”

“Indian children’s books rarely get the kind of publicity they deserve in the popular or social media. Websites like Goodbooks plug the gap by not letting a single Indian children’s book of merit slip through the cracks. Most people would not even know about the books available in the market if not for a resource like this.”
